I don't mean to take you apart
It seems, I can't help it"~ Alannis

The Girls
At night I see you sleeping
I reach out to touch you
Softly, gently so you don't
wake
I watch you, and listen to you
breathe
What goes on in there?
Behind your eyes and dreams?
Do you know your mother loves
you
And forever will?
Forever in my mind, little girls
You'll always be
Even when you are older,
and no longer need me.
Fear
I am Afraid...
To want you
To touch you
To need you
To trust you
I Am Afraid...
To believe you
To be hurt
by you
To walk away from you
To love you
I Am Afraid...
Walk
I wonder if I should walk away
If I should leave before I cling
too hard
I'm not sure where I stand
Not sure who I am anymore
I don't know what I want
Nor what I'm living for
Days seem endless
And nothing makes sense anymore.
Failure
Well, I've failed at everything
I've ever done
Nurse, wife, mother, lover
In the end, it all falls through
Excuses I have
Though they matter little
Yes, I'm tired
And I hurt like hell
Honestly, who doesn't?
Other people do it,
Make it work
I'm always reaching for something
else
Far out of reach
Who knows what tomorrow brings?
I do...
Yet more proof I don't belong,
Here, or anywhere.
Nine Lives
Shaking my
head
I watch you
fade into the nothingness of yourself
I know there
is far more to you
Than you will
ever see
I continue
to believe in you
Long after
you've given it all away
Inside, behind
those fire-forged walls
You are a beautiful
person
I know, you've
let me in before
That person
is not dead
Only sleeping
And when you
find him again
He knows, the
door is always open.
Silk
In the darkness
feel the sound
the heat of the night
the silk embrace
those meant for only
you to hear
dreams shared
and forgotten in
an instant
lives intertwined
souls all but one
and then it's over
nothing but a lingering
glow
and the yearn for
more
